“Thank you so much for playing – it was absolutely fantastic and nobody wanted you to stop!”
Bianca and Dan’s wedding Saturday 11th June 2016.
We arrived at Chaffeymoore Grange early. The day was bright and lovely. We’d been looking forward to performing for Dan & Bianca for a long time now. We met with Bianca & Dan a few months ago, when they came to see us perform with our sixties show in Hayling Island, but Bianca has known about us for a while and has very kindly recommended the band for lots of gigs in the past including her brother Jonas’s wedding in 2011 and Luke and Sam Parkes wedding in 2014. But today, was Bianca & Dan’s wedding, and we were excited but we had to be better than ever!
When we arrived, the guests and the newlyweds were enjoying some drinks on the ground near the waterfalls.
I enjoyed looking around the venue and exploring the grounds. I loved the chalkboard signs dotted around the place, and the flowers were just beautiful. We bumped into Mike from Luna Photography, who was taking photos of the day. He was super lovely, and we’ve since had a browse of their website, it’s fab and they have some just wonderful photos, check them out here.
I really loved the cake room, I think it was perhaps my favourite room! Just look at the delicious selection of cakes! #yummo
There were so many little touches, dotted throughout Chaffeymoore Grange, you could tell a lot of planning and thought had gone into the day, everything looked perfect.
Set up and soundcheck went well. We’d arrived early so we had plenty of time to soundcheck. The room consisted of a lot of wooden surfaces, which are quite reflective of sound, so it was good to have some time in the room, to make sure it sounded just perfect.
We had some time before our first set, so we enjoyed some sandwiches which Bianca and Dan had kindly arranged for us. We were really happy too to be able to have ‘tea on tap’ with access to some tea bags, milks and a kettle. Such a small details but it really makes all the difference having a room to relax in, a cup of tea and some food before the show! We spent some time warming up and running through some vocal parts which sounded lovely!
Here’s a photo of everything set up:
For their first dance Bianca & Dan had chosen ‘The One’ by Kodaline. A beautiful song isn’t it? We’d spent time rehearsing and practicing the first dance so that it was just perfect for our performance in the evening.
Following their first dance, Bianca took to the floor with her dad, James, to dance to ‘Ho Hey’ by The Lumineers, one of our favourites!
Following the first two dances, we kicked off she show with some up tempo numbers which Bianca & Dan had chosen from our repertoire. It was brilliant. We had a short break in between sets before heading out for set 2. The room was packed, and we enjoyed seeing everyone dancing and having a great time!
After the show, we enjoyed seeing Jonas and Liz (Bianca’s brother) who recently celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary. The Zoots performed at their wedding at Hunstsham Court and it was really great to see them again!
Lots of Love,
Harriet, Jamie & The Zoots
