Let’s step back in time to 9th of May 2015. Do you know where you were? We remember it well as we were performing for the totally gorgeous Francesca & Rory on their wedding day. The reception was held at Francesca’s parents house in Milbourne Port in Dorset, a fabulous setting for a wedding. Where is this going, I hear you ask? Well Alexa, Francesca’s sister spotted us at the wedding and got in touch in July 2015 to see if we could perform for her at her wedding to Jason.
After a drive through the country, we made it to Milbourne Port. The sun was shining and the day was glorious! We met with Julian and the team from Else Event Catering. These guys are actually amazing. We worked with them the previous year at Francesca & Rory’s wedding, so we knew this year would run like a dream too. Every single one of the team is so friendly, so helpful, and so genuinely lovely – if you get a chance to work with these guys, I suggest you jump at it. Julian showed us what went where, and pointed us to the area where we would be setting up our equipment and performing.
I think you’ll agree the grounds and surrounding area is just beautiful. I just adored the panoramic view from the house.
Set up went well, we had a huge stage to perform on which was brilliant! Everything was running to time, and we set up whilst the guests enjoyed drinks outside, and some music from the very brilliant James Peter Hunt with his acoustic guitar. Here’s a link to his facebook page, he was very talented and really lovely.
After set up, there was a spare 5 minutes to enjoy the sunset and sample a delicious cocktail provided by the very amazing Hello Sweet Pea, (the cocktails we’re divine), you too (yes you) can hire their lovely retro caravan Elsie for your party/wedding/bbq/Tuesday night.
We got changed, warmed up those vocal chords and prepared ourselves for what we knew was going to be an amazing night.
For their first dance, Alexa and Jason had chosen ‘Amazed’ by Lonestar, a really beautiful track, it was lovely watching them take to the floor together for the first time as husband and wife.
Our first set was brilliant. We played some fabulous songs from all the eras, and the dance floor was packed from the off! It was just wonderful seeing the happy couple dance the night away with their family and friends. We really enjoyed seeing some familiar faces from our performance the year before.
Just when we thought things couldn’t get any better, the last set happened.
Here’s a little video of the first dance, and also the moment we thought we’d lost lead guitarist Ben when he went out into the crowd for this pretty epic solo.
Thank you to everyone who danced solidly from start to finish, sang along, and clapped mostly in the right places, we wish you could come to all of our gigs!
Thank you so much to the beautiful couple, Alexa & Jason for choosing The Zoots to be their band for the evening, and a huge congratulations on your wedding. Thank you to Sarah and all of the Tizzards for their kind hospitality and warmth, we just love you guys and hope we get to see you all again at another bash soon.
Keep in touch,
Following the wedding, we received a wonderful email from Sarah, Alexa’s mum, who we’d been liaising with in the lead up to the wedding.
“What can I say – another brilliant bash at Barrow Hill. – One more daughter to go – hopefully she will get married in London or something slightly different but close enough that we could still have your good selves.
As usual the comments have been superlative, Rob my husband said only today that there isn’t a song you don’t want to dance to.”
