The Zoots band Wiltshire for our 5th birthday!
It has been an exciting time for us so far in 2014. Celebrating our 5th birthday, The Zoots have stayed in the UK for January and February for the first time ever except a brief trip to Lanzarote. We have been rehearsing and working hard on our act both on an off stage. We have been working on new songs for both our 1960s show and for all the other decades too. The year started with the birthday 40th Birthday Party of Ann Marie Gardiner who has been one of our longest standing fans for her Masquerade Ball. Ann-Marie came to one of our first ever shows at Butlins in 2009 and has been to see us many times since. She described the evening as “.. the best night of my life…”
We have a great team and the energy is the best it has ever been. I am very excited about 2014 as its our busiest year ever following our most successful year in 2013.
Stuart joined in November 2013 on bass and has been brilliant and fitted in nicely, at 22 he is the youngest member of the band and arguably the 4th best looking. He has bought a lot of energy and this week we have been practising his lead vocal debut for our cover version of ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams. (such an awesome track)
The Zoots band in Wiltshire relocated in 2012
Since moving he band from Windsor & Maidenhead I have been very impressed by the standard of musicians in Wiltshire so far, we feel lucky to have a few of the best as part of our team. Ben Jones our lead guitarist has been with us now on lead guitar since September 2012 and our fans and clients often comment on how outstandingly accurate and amazing his guitar playing is. The groom Matt Barnes who booked us for his wedding on Valentines day at Hazelwood Castle stated ” As I’m a guitarist I wasn’t sure if wanted the band to play Guns ‘n Roses as I’ve never heard anyone play the guitar parts properly but Ben smashed the solo and played it every bit as good as Slash, you guys were exceptional!”
Ben has also taken on the lead vocals for ‘Locked out of heaven’ and ‘500 miles’ in our set list and sang ‘White Room’ by Cream at our 1960s show at Windsor Guildhall. Ben’s barbershop experience has really improved the harmonies in the band and his guitar playing abilities really put the band on a new level.

Mike East performed his first show with us in August 2012 and started playing the majority of the shows from December 2012. Mikes singing has been tremendous and even performs lead vocals on ‘Foxy Lady’, ‘Place your hands’, ‘Last night’ by The Strokes and recently has added ‘I need a Dollar’ to his vocal repertoire. His drumming is also great and you can see him perform his solo here
