This weekend we said hello to April as we headed to Kent to perform at Nikki’s 40th birthday party in Aylesford in Kent. Nikki and Simon first saw The Zoots at Colin O’Rourke’s 50th Birthday party in Gillingham way back in 2013. Nikki used to work with Jane O’Rourke (Colin’s wife) at Medway Hospital and have known each other for years.
Luckily for us Nikki chose The Zoots to entertain her guests at the big birthday bash!
Sid and I met when we were both around ten months old, at that time, little did I know he would end up be the best friend I could ask for. Growing up in Maidenhead, we journeyed through school life together, making memories and creating mischief. We were each others houses nearly everyday until we were ‘grown ups’ and left home. We’ve been on holidays together, he was an usher and my wedding and Sid has been a guest vocalist in the band with us more times than I can remember. Sid is like a brother to me, so his wedding to Amanda was pretty much as special as weddings get.

Today it’s Monday and the sun is shining and we are happy Zoots. The frosty evening yesterday led to these clear skies and bright sunshine. Today we’re off to Cambridgeshire to perform for Sian & Kevin on their wedding day at the, I think you’ll agree, very beautiful Bassmead Manor Barns.
Sian & Kevin had spotted us when we performed at Lisa & Niall’s wedding way way way back in 2014. It was such a super wedding, I loved how wonderful the room had been decked out, and I just loved the setting. I think one of my favourite things, was the paper maché giraffe (check out the blog). It’s always so wonderful being booked off the back of another performance. Such a great compliment! And it means we get to see some familiar faces again too! We were really looking forward to seeing Lisa and Niall again at Sian and Kevin’s wedding. … Continue Reading

Emma was in charge of booking a band for the bash, and she chose us, having been her wedding band a little over a year ago! We remember the night well, in the gorgeous setting of the Crazy Bear in Stadhampton (you should really go there, it’s amazing).
On Saturday 9th of May we had the pleasure of performing for Francesca and Rory’s wedding. We had a fantastic journey early in the morning in our new Mercedes 6 wheeler ‘The White Knight’. We travelled south through the windy roads beneath Marlborough and eventually drove past the majestic Stonehendge. Most people drive quite slow to have a quick look at the amazing structure which was built 5000 years ago, we had a good look too! … Continue Reading
I just love April. The rapeseed is out in full bloom and colours the landscape a glowing yellow. Birds are reappearing and flowers pop up in the garden. I love the smell of freshly cut grass and I get all excited about the thought of summer! I love being out in the countryside at this time of year. We’re fortunate as we get to see ahhhh-lot of the country (and indeed the world) on our travels. It’s a wonderful time to get married. Wiltshire is where we begin our journey as we travel the short distance to Marden Manor for the wedding of Charles and Sophie.

On Saturday 27th December The Zoots performed at Laura & Sam Wallace’s wedding reception at Chiswell Street Dining Rooms part of the prestigious 5 star Montcalm Hotel in central London. The impressive 17th Century building was once owned by the Whitbread Brewery and one of the first mass production breweries in England. The style and decoration throughout the hotel oozed class and the staff were extremely helpful. We met Sam and Laura a few months before the big day to discuss the plans and the load in to make sure everything flowed like clockwork on the night. Below is a picture of the venue on the day and back in the day. I also got a sneaky shot of the reception staff who kindly opened up the doors for us to load in our equipment.

Maybe it’s the shorter days, the slight drop in temperature, or the fact that we are so so busy which is making the days fly by. Was is really a week ago we were performing for Victoria & Piers at their wedding at Priston Mill in Bath? Aye it was. *wipes forehead and exhales*. What a night that was. Read the blog about it here.
Today we’re headed to Leicester. We’re performing for a very lovely couple, Catherine & Phil. Let’s flash back for a minute. It’s Saturday. I’m pretty sure it’s November or maybe it’s December 2013. We’re at gig. It’s a 60’s themed night. The room is packed. And I mean packed. I think the ceiling is sweating. It’s so 60’s, we could actually be in the 196o’s. Somewhere under the the bopping bodies there is a dance floor and perhaps a carpet of sorts, but I can no longer see it. People are dancing dancing dancing. In the crowd around are Cat & Phil and they are loving it loving it loving it. They smile at us. We smile back. They like us. We like them. They say hello. We wipe the sweat from our brows and say hello back. They would like to book us for their wedding next year. We are happy. … Continue Reading
It’s 9am, we’re up early, bound for Camber! Today is the 11th of October (*cough* my birthday), the day of Liz and John’s wedding! Coffee is the drink of the morning, and lots of it following our gig in Plymouth the last night. A gallon of coffee, a few glasses of juice, a couple of boiled eggs and a bowl of porridge later, we’ve jumped in the band van and were raring to go! It looks kinda rainy-sunny-rainy-sunny. It’s just Zoots lead guitarist Ben, Jamie & I this morning. Drummer Mike and Bass player Stuhoney will be joining us later on for the evenings celebrations. … Continue Reading
