Philippa first got in touch in 2014. Remember 2014? I know right, feels like an age ago! Philippa & Kevin booked The Zoots for their wedding reception on the 20th of June 2015. We were really looking forward to it. Due to a rather unfortunate events, Philippa & Kevin had to reschedule the date of their wedding to the 21st of May 2016. We were available and happily changed the date to fit in with their new date.

Emma was in charge of booking a band for the bash, and she chose us, having been her wedding band a little over a year ago! We remember the night well, in the gorgeous setting of the Crazy Bear in Stadhampton (you should really go there, it’s amazing).
Ok, so we’ve been back three days and I think we’ve just about recovered from what must have been our BEST shows ever, on board the Rhapsody of The Seas.
It began at Zoots HQ in Wiltshire of course, where most of our stories begin. We’ve had a busy few months performing at lots of events including Natalie & Rhys’ wedding, our awesome halloween show at Stamford Corn Exchange, as well as lots of other performances we just really haven’t had the time to tell you about. You may remember from our latest band blog post, we’re moving house, as well as having a full diary of performances and taking bookings well in to 2017, we’re pretty busy! So if you’re thinking about booking The Zoots, we’d recommend getting in touch asap!

Last week was blooming brilliant. We had such a fab time performing for Steve and Laura at Pinewood Studios and only yesterday (Friday) we had the absolute honour of performing for our good friends Simon & Emily on their wedding day at Priston Mill. I don’t think we could be any happier.
Today, Saturday, we’re headed towards a little town called Chorleywood. We’ve actually passed through here many moon ago when we were performing at Fitness Fiesta in Hemsby last year. It’s a lovely place, lots of fields lots of green. Today we’re performing for Phil and Rainee on their wedding day at North Hill Farm and we’re really looking forward to it. We’ve been liaising with Phil & Rainee about their big day since they got in touch in August last year. … Continue Reading
Let’s journey back to Friday the 4th of April 2014. We are in central London, Knightsbridge to be exact, performing for those crazy cats at the Royal Thames Yacht Club for their younger members ball. It is one of those ‘crazy crazy nights’ (thank you KISS) and the crowd are loving it. Not just ‘sorta-kinda-giving-it-a-go-shufflin’-those-feet’ but really LOVING IT. Bodies are bopping, arms are a-waving and sweat is a-pouring. It was brilliant. Made ever more hilarious as it was a masquerade ball! In amongst the throngs of people, bodies, drinks and masks were Alan & Jenny. Bride & groom to be. As we were recovering (packing away) they came up to us and asked us to be their wedding band. We said yes! … Continue Reading
We arrived in Salerno, it was hot, it was sunny, it was glorious! We too a photo of us all before we left in a mirror. a Five-piece selfie. It’s not very good, we will keep practising to make it better. Salerno is in Italy, we took a photo by an Italian flag just to be sure. We didn’t know much about Salerno as we’ve been so busy (read about what we’ve been up to on our blog) so we didn’t have time to research it before we went. Thankfully Wikipedia filled us in on all we needed to know on our return. “Salerno is the main town close to the Amalfi Coast, and is mostly known for its Schola Medica Salernitana, the first medical school in the world.” (Source, WIkipedia) … Continue Reading
The past few weeks have been our busiest ever, it’s hard to know where to begin, or where we left off! August was very busy for The Zoots. It began when we flew to Santorini, we’ve never been there before but had heard tales of beauty and wonder!
We had a FEAST at Giraffe before departing at Heathrow Airport, and were welcomed to glorious sunshine when we touched down a few hours later. … Continue Reading
Wayhay *finally* it’s August the 8th! We’ve been waiting for this day for months and months. Today it the day of Libby & Simon’s wedding. They got in touch with us last September asking if we were free to perform on their day and if we had any public gigs coming up they could come and watch. We said yes and yes! By chance, we were preparing for a 1960s themed event at Windsor Guild Hall which was a public event! (unfortunately it was during those ‘pre-blog’ days so photos are not online but it was so so good, rumour has it even Jimmy Page came to watch us), anyway…I told Libby about the event and she and Simon made the journey from Bristol to come watch us! And the rest is history, well not quite…
They said yes! And we were booked to perform on their wedding day at the very amazing Bowood House. One of our favourite ever venues to perform at. Arno, Hannah, Jade and the team are just brilliant and are always such a real pleasure to work with. We love working with them!
Before the big day, we met with Simon & Libby at Bowood House to run through the itinerary, set up and logistics. We saw the room we were performing in and worked out where we would set up. It was so great to do this, not only did it give us another excuse to meet up with the lovely Simon & Libby, but really helped us prepare for the day. … Continue Reading
It’s Wednesday. Its 1:30pm and the sun is shining (praise the lord)! We’re scheduled to perform outside at The Friendslife summer party in Bristol. Being summer in Britain, the weather lading up to this day has been a little…chaotic. Fortunately the heavens opened this morning and have left the sky blue and sunny and warm and lovely. We are happy. We arrive bright eye and merry. We were performing last night in Somerset, and stayed over so it meant we had quite an early night (for us!). We’ve been looking to this for aggggges! A few months ago Jamie & I visited Hayley at the Friendslife site to discuss the set up, load in, where we would be playing and what we would need. This was so incredibly helpful and made everything run ultra smooth on the day. … Continue Reading
Last week we were lucky enough to spend the night in Norway. It was out of this world beautiful and amazing. We left Heathrow and got a plane to Oslo. We then caught a short flight in a *tiny* plane to a place called Stavanger in the middle of the fjords. The plane had two little propellors and only took about 40 passengers. We had one of the most beautiful taxi rides through the fjords headed toward a small village called Loen, even the drizzle couldn’t dampen our mood. We climbed mountains before returning to sea level to make our way around the fjords, through tunnels and along the roads by the fjords. It was a short distance to be covered but due to all of the water we had to take the long way round and we were grateful for it. There were beautiful waterfalls everywhere. The houses were incredible, everything was just amazing, and we just simply couldn’t capture or take in the beauty of it all. Dumbfounded by the scenery, we arrived at the hotel. It was like walking in to a painting. After a bite to eat (needless to say it was one of the tasiest meals we’ve ever had – “That was *the best* hamburger I’ve ever eaten‘, exclaimed Stuart) we headed outside for a short walk and to take in the views. The air was so clean. It was one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever seen (apologies for the over use of the word but its the only way I can really describe it). It stayed light until about 1am and even then it was barely dark. We took so many photos trying to really capture the essence of the place. It’s something we wont forget, ever. We’re so lucky to be able to visit places like this whilst doing what we love. Words fail to do this amazing place justice so I’ll let the pictures to all the talking. … Continue Reading
