The party band in Bristol
It’s Wednesday. Its 1:30pm and the sun is shining (praise the lord)! We’re scheduled to perform outside at The Friendslife summer as the party band in Bristol. Being summer in Britain, the weather lading up to this day has been a little…chaotic. Fortunately the heavens opened this morning and have left the sky blue and sunny and warm and lovely. We are happy. We arrive bright eye and merry. We were performing last night in Somerset, and stayed over so it meant we had quite an early night (for us!). We’ve been looking forward to this for aggggges! A few months ago Jamie & I visited Hayley at the Friendslife site to discuss the set up, load in, where we would be playing and what we would need. This was so incredibly helpful and made everything run ultra smooth on the day.

Purpose built as a shopping centre, the building is now home to over 3000 FriendsLife Employees…
Not only do they have lots of cafes, shops, cool meeting areas and a restaurant on site, but they have huge grounds where the FriendsLife team can enjoy their lunch. It really was just lovely, there was a fountain and a lake, a large grass area (where we were performing) and some huge steps. I’m really not describing it very well, it was awesome.
We set up and got ready. Hayley and her team had kindly set up a marquee for us. Although the sun was shining, we do always ask for a watertight cover for us and our equipment ‘just-in-case’. Luckily we didn’t need it. Setting up was lovely with the summer sunshine smiling down upon us. We drank some coke and cracked a few jokes. As we were playing outside, Hayley had arranged for a generator to brought in to power out rig. It was big, and quite noisy, but did the job nicely. We called her Jenny.
After setting up, we were soon on for our first set. As well as us performing, there was a whole host of fun things to do including a bucking bronco, an inflatable wipeout, Limbo, loads of other inflatable goodies, a BBQ and of course, a bar! It was all spread out over the gardens. For our first set, we included lots of songs which would work really well at a daytime bash. These included treats such as ‘Sweat’, ‘Angel’, ‘I’m Yours’, ‘No Woman No Cry’, ‘One Love’. These worked super well for the chilled out atmosphere and people really enjoyed listening to them as they took part in the other activities.
These are two photos from our first set:

The first set was great. We went for a quick break and bite to eat. We drank some more Coke and made faces in the sunlight.
After some delicious grub (thank you!) we were back on! We picked up the tempo a little bit in the second set, adding in tracks from our repertoire such as ‘Moves like Jagger’, ‘Footloose’ ‘Valerie’, ‘Sweet Child Of Mine’, ‘Billie Jean’, my gosh, there were so many! It was awesome. It was so wonderful playing outside, being not too hot but not to cold either! Being warm from the sun but cool from the breeze. Getting really hot from all the moving about, but without getting a little bit sweaty as a result! To conclude, we bloomin’ love outdoor gigs (as long as its not raining!).
We had such an awesome time performing for Friendslife. They were such a great crowd and said some really wonderful things about our performance for them. We cannot thank them enough for choosing us to be their band for their summer party!
Our next shows include performing as the wedding band in Devon, party band in Newbury, Goodwood, Reid Rooms, Halloween, Lyme Regis as a 60s tribute band, Sussex, Oxford, Maidenhead, Eric Herd’s 60th Birthday party, a party in Kent, Portugal, a wedding in Hertfordshire and we are lucky enough to be playing in London aswell. We also have been booked as a Christmas party band too. Also mega news we are going to a few theaters and Blackpool in the New Year
